Friends, family, and judges were eager to watch the team challenges at the Destination Imagination Regional tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event drew more than 150 teams from across the Dallas region and served as the crucial starting line for teams hoping to prove their creative problem-solving\u00a0abilities.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wpa-warning wpa-image-missing-alt size-medium wp-image-80992 alignright lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Picture2-156x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"156\" height=\"300\" data-warning=\"Missing alt text\"  data- style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 156px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 156\/300;\"\/>After months of preparation, unique scripts, and engineered devices, students solved complex, open-ended problems combining science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>When the final scores were tallied, Dallas ISD emerged as an undeniable powerhouse of innovation, where an impressive roster of 36 teams, representing 27 schools within the district, successfully punched their tickets to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Gier, Maple Lawn Elementary School DI coach, said students start with a blank team challenge and build a fully-realized technical performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat process has been incredible,\u201d said Gier. \u201cTheir resilience when things didn\u2019t go perfectly during practice is exactly why they succeeded today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas region has proven its creative ability, and its students are primed to shine on the bigger stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe spent hours arguing over the best way to build our structure, but we really learned how to trust each other\u2019s ideas,\u201d Leo, eighth grade Dallas ISD student, said. \u201cHearing our school name called for State made every late afternoon worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The road ahead is challenging, but Dallas ISD represents some of the brightest young minds headed to the finals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wpa-warning wpa-image-missing-alt alignleft size-medium wp-image-80993 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Picture3-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" data-warning=\"Missing alt text\"  data- style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/208;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The qualifying schools now shift their focus to the upcoming Lone Star Finals competition at University of Texas at Arlington.
