She told investigators she thought the 26-year-old accountant was a burglar when she shot him with her service gun. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Guyger was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/courts\/2019\/10\/01\/relief-among-reactions-dallas-leaders-react-amber-guyger-guilty-verdict\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/courts\/2019\/10\/01\/relief-among-reactions-dallas-leaders-react-amber-guyger-guilty-verdict\/\">found guilty of murder<\/a> a year later and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
