HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office said it has identified a suspect who was described as “Spiderman from Hell” after he was caught on camera shimmying his way into several Montrose-area homes and stealing items.<\/p>\n
The constable said the break in the case happened because of an ABC13 viewer.<\/p>\n
Officials said the suspect, 56-year-old Bobby John Henry, is accused of a string of burglaries since December. Henry was caught on multiple surveillance cameras, making his way through doggy doors and windows, before making his way out with the victims’ belongings.<\/p>\n
Constable Alan Rosen spoke at a press conference on Friday, where he said Henry has an extensive record that dates back to 2006 for other charges, including burglary. Rosen said he believes Bobby John Henry is the man captured in several surveillance videos.<\/p>\n
“It’s always the public that helps us find people and solve cases,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We saw it on the news, and I was like, ‘Thank God someone’s doing something,’ because he’s out there,” Richard Loper, another Montrose resident who said his home was burglarized in February, said.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video from Loper’s home shows the accused thief first trying unsuccessfully to break the back window, then getting through the back door.<\/p>\n
Investigators said they are looking into whether the burglary at Loper’s home is connected to the other burglaries in Montrose.<\/p>\n
“He’s sneaky. Slippery. Gets in and out, no problem,” Loper said. “I sent the video to a friend, and they go, ‘he’s very casual and brazen.’ I said, ‘If I find him, I’m going to get brazen on him.'”<\/p>\n
Loper said the man got away with family heirlooms. His mother-in-law, Anna Russell, was Houston’s longtime city secretary.<\/p>\n
“Through the 68 years, she was gifted several things from the city that are irreplaceable, and he took those,” said Loper.<\/p>\n
After an ABC13 viewer called his office with a tip that led to an identification, Rosen said he’s hoping another tip will lead to an arrest.<\/p>\n
DPS records show that Henry has a long criminal history dating back to 1990.<\/p>\n
“He didn’t actively pawn anything. He knows what he’s doing,” Rosen said. “He knows his trade, and we know our trade, and we’re going to ensure he gets put back in prison. Enough is enough.”<\/p>\n
“Bring him to me. Bring him to me on the platter,” Loper said. “I just hope he gets caught.”<\/p>\n
