There\u2019s no need to feel down if your plans to hit the coast or someplace further flung for spring break fell through. <\/p>\n

Break-worthy activities are happening across downtown San Antonio through a good portion of March, including in Historic Market Square, at La Villita Historic Arts Village and along Houston Street. Here\u2019s quick rundown, courtesy of city officials.<\/p>\n

Sana Sunday: Taekwondo Self-Defense<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking to improve your personal safety while finding a fun way to burn calories, Sana Sunday is offering a free course in taekwondo self-defense skills. Chris Navarro, owner of Navarro\u2019s Taekwondo Academy, will teach you a variety of moves. You may even master seogi, makgi and chigi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Craft Tuesday: Decorated Planter Pots<\/p>\n

Need a place to take the kiddos while school\u2019s out? Let them join La Villita\u2019s craft night, where they can decorate a plant pot and even take home a complimentary succulent. Heck, why not join in and make it family outing. Online registration is required for this event, but don\u2019t fear. If you miss it, there\u2019s always next month.<\/p>\n

St. Patrick\u2019s Day Festival and River Parade<\/p>\n

Why should the river be blue (or, more accurately, brown)? This annual two-day festival will fix that and offer a great excuse to drink beer in celebration. Along with a\u00a0variety of different events<\/a>, Visit San Antonio and The Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas will dye the San Antonio River green \u2014\u00a0with eco-friendly dye, of course \u2014\u00a0and host live entertainment for you to pinch your friends to.<\/p>\n

Market Square Spring Fest<\/p>\n

Free, 10 a.m. Thursday through Sunday, March 12-15, 514 W. Commerce Street,\u00a0marketsquaresa.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With four days full of Spring festival events, you can still feel like you\u2019re on vacation. Starting at 10 a.m. daily, you can enjoy live music, food and a multitude of activities.<\/p>\n

Market Square Weekends: Live Performances, Local Eats and Art in Action<\/p>\n

Free, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every weekend, 514 W. Commerce St.,\u00a0marketsquaresa.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You haven\u2019t fully experienced San Antonio culture until you have visited Market Square on a weekend. Artist and food booths line the square, and the people-watching can\u2019t be beat. If that\u2019s not enough, the shops and restaurants are top-notch and puro San Anto.<\/p>\n

Lunch Break on Houston Street<\/p>\n

Free, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, March 5 and 19, 224 E. Houston St.,\u00a0Instagram.com\/satxfoodtrucks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s spring break with indulging in great food while not paying attention to one\u2019s waistline? Twice during March, food trucks will assemble outside the Majestic Theatre, offering a chance to grab a taco (or something more exotic), walk around and enjoy the live music and downtown sights. <\/p>\n
