They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the King Mustangs. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Lyla Creek made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn’t given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Parker Malone and Emilee Holmes did most of the damage at the plate: Malone fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Holmes went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That’s the most RBI Malone has posted over her last 15 games. Nariah Gomez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 11-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial’s record is now 15-7. As for King, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

We’ve got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial will face off against rival Corpus Christi Moody at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, King is set to take on their familiar foe Alice at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
