TORONTO \u2014 Khris Middleton<\/a>\u2019s bank account just got a little lighter.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks<\/a> forward has been fined $25,000 for \u201cthrowing his mouthpiece in the direction of the spectator stands\u201d during Thursday night\u2019s 115-114 loss to the Orlando Magic<\/a>, the NBA announced on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The fine was levied by James Jones, the league\u2019s executive vice president and head of basketball operations.<\/p>\n

Middleton lost the ball in the third quarter with 6:55 remaining<\/a>, leading to a turnover. He was guarded heavily by Magic guard Jalen Suggs and looked to two officials before he tossed his mouthpiece toward the Mavericks\u2019 bench. The mouthpiece landed in front of a fan sitting courtside and slid toward the foot of Mavericks assistant coach Jay Triano.<\/p>\n

Middleton received a technical foul for the incident and the subsequent fine, which is usually the case for throwing objects.<\/p>\n

Middleton has averaged 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 11 games since he was acquired by the Mavericks on Feb. 5. in a trade with the Washington Wizards.<\/p>\n

Earlier this season, Magic guard Desmond Bane was fined for \u201cthrowing the game ball with force\u201d on two separate occasions in December and February.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks (21-42) will continue their six-game road trip on Sunday in Toronto.<\/p>\n
