The likelihood of excessive rainfall could prompt flash flooding in some areas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-channels-pixel.ex.co\/events\/0012000001fxZm9AAE?integrationType=DEFAULT&amp;template=design%2Farticle%2Fplatypus_two_column.tpl\" alt=\"\" class=\"x1px y1px vh abs\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, heat waves, hurricanes, or \u2014 in recent years \u2014 winter storms, the Lone Star State is no stranger to severe weather. With all this in mind, it&#8217;s like not shocking that Texas has been named the top state hit hardest by extreme weather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>A recent analysis by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instantroofer.com\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instant Roofer<\/a> gathered data from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mentalfloss.com\/geography\/maps\/states-with-the-most-tornadoes-map\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mental Floss<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncei.noaa.gov\/pub\/data\/swdi\/stormevents\/csvfiles\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Centers for Environmental Information Storm Events Database<\/a> to determine which U.S. states experience the greatest and least impacts of extreme weather. Key measures included tornado frequency, thunderstorm days, wind events and property damage. Each state was then given a score out of 100, based on storm frequency and severity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Understanding your state&#8217;s weather patterns is the first step in protecting your property,&#8221; Instant Roofer CEO Jeff Berzolla said. &#8220;Homeowners often do not realize how vulnerable their roofs are until it&#8217;s too late.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What makes Texas the state most impacted by extreme weather, and how does it compare to other states? From ice storms to heat waves, tornadoes to hurricanes, every season generally brings new risks to residents. This variety of severe weather contributed to Texas claiming the top spot on Instant Roof&#8217;s extreme weather ranking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=statesman.com\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1760523311_429_rawImage.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p class=\"cci_subhead\" title=\"CCI Subhead\">The Lone Star State led the states in several categories: annual average tornadoes (103.2), number of thunderstorm days (111) and total storm events (3,680). Each storm event left an average of $48,839 in property damage, which is just a fraction of its total damage bill of $179.7 million. Although both states racked up relatively much smaller costs in property damage, they had around three times as many strong wind events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues
