Historic east Austin restaurant celebrates 75 years <\/a><\/p>\n\u201cI hope he is proud of what we have been able to keep doing, and Rob was always the financial wizard of the business, but he let the kids, and I do the nuts and bolts,\u201d said Cathy.<\/p>\n
Rob\u2019s presence can still be seen on the walls and the love for the restaurant still lives on in his family and those who work there.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s fast-paced, it\u2019s fun, it\u2019s a throwback to old Austin,\u201d said DJ Phil Ross, an employee of Guero\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Guero\u2019s is a taste of old Austin mixed with the new, where you never know who you might run into.<\/p>\n
\u201cLyle Lovett, who is still coming here,\u201d said Cathy.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuentin Tarantino was a big fan of ours years and years ago,\u201d said Lyle. \u201cHe filmed one of his movies here.\u201d<\/p>\n
In fact, Cathy said Tarantino even had Guero\u2019s painted on the outside patio wall without their permission, but she was fine with it.<\/p>\n
Whether you are looking to catch a concert in \u201cThe Oak Garden\u201d or catch up with old friends, the Lippincotts say stop by.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s nostalgic, but it\u2019s also still just as good, still just as tasty, the margaritas are still just as strong,\u201d said Lyle.<\/p>\n
Guero\u2019s will host a 40th anniversary celebration on May 5th in \u201cThe Oak Garden.\u201d<\/p>\n
