{"id":196157,"date":"2026-03-08T23:58:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T23:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/196157\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T23:58:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T23:58:07","slug":"crackdown-on-unauthorized-cat-feeders-along-turtle-creek","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/196157\/","title":{"rendered":"Crackdown on Unauthorized Cat Feeders Along Turtle Creek"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parks and Recreation crews are cracking down after finding more than 30 unauthorized cat feeding stations and shelters in a wooded area along Turtle Creek. <\/p>\n<p>Dallas Park and Recreation Board member Rudy Karimi wrote in a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/19NrJNV6Zd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">social media<\/a> that parks officials had been monitoring the situation over the past year and recently sought to address the issue after finding more than 30 boxes and feeding areas in the woods \u201calong with concerns about fleas, bacteria, fecal matter, rotting food, and at least one deceased cat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeeding stations like this can also attract coyotes and other wildlife that should not be encouraged in parks within the urban core,\u201d the post continued. \u201cRegardless of people\u2019s views on cat colony management, public parkland is simply not the appropriate place for feeding stations or unmanaged shelters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karimi said parks officials had provided notice asking for the feeding stations and shelters to be removed over the span of several months before the cleanup effort to no avail. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of our park staff for handling the cleanup thoughtfully, professionally, and with ample public outreach.
