Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has officially begun a major new chapter in its growth. On Oct. 21, hospital leaders and community members broke ground on a $343 million expansion project that will transform the medical campus over the next three years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The large-scale investment will include a new eight-story patient tower and a six-story parking garage, with completion expected in fall 2028.<\/p>\n

Expanding Capacity And Critical Care<\/p>\n

The upcoming tower<\/a> will significantly expand the hospital\u2019s capacity, providing much-needed space for patients requiring intensive and critical care. Designed to meet the demands of a growing Collin County population<\/a>, the new structure will stand adjacent to the existing tower on the campus\u2019s east end, an area currently occupied by parking and the hospital\u2019s helipad. Once construction is complete, the helipad will move to the roof of the new tower.<\/p>\n

When finished, Texas Health Plano will offer nearly 400 licensed acute and critical care beds, up from 230. In total, the facility will include 563 beds, encompassing behavioral health, women\u2019s services and neonatal care. A new basement level will also connect to the hospital\u2019s existing service corridors and house an expanded pharmacy to support the increased patient volume.<\/p>\n

Building On Excellence In Specialized Care<\/p>\n

The expansion comes as Texas Health Plano continues to strengthen its specialty services. The hospital recently completed a renovation of its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), now featuring 42 beds and seven private rooms designed for families to stay close to their newborns during treatment.<\/p>\n

Construction is also underway on a new operating room dedicated to advanced neuroscience and cardiovascular procedures. This surgical suite will feature state-of-the-art technology for multidisciplinary operations, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and endovascular aneurysm repair, allowing for greater precision and patient safety.<\/p>\n
