LAKE FORK, Texas \u2014 A Texas man was arrested and jailed after he was accused of putting weights into fish he caught during a tournament.<\/p>\n
Curtis Lee Daniels, 45, of Willow Park, Texas, is charged with violating a fishing tournament law, a third-degree felony, KLTV Channel 7 reports<\/a>. He was released from jail Monday after posting a $20,000 bond.<\/p>\n KDFW Channel 4 reports<\/a> Texas Game wardens were called Sunday during the Lake Fork Lure Company Tournament after Daniels submitted a bass he caught.<\/p>\n A metal detector used by tournament officials discovered three weights inside of the fish\u2019s stomach, KDFW reports. Similar weights were found inside of Daniels\u2019 boat, authorities said.<\/p>\n If found guilty, Daniels could face up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines, KLTV reports.<\/p>\n In 2022, two men, Jacob Runyan of Ashtabula and fishing partner, Chase Cominsky of Hermitage, Pa., were caught weighting down fish<\/a> during the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship in Cleveland Harbor.<\/p>\n In May 2023, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Steven Gall sentenced Runyan and Cominsky to 10 days in the Cuyahoga County Jail<\/a>.
