PLANO, Texas \u2014 The Plano Police Department has arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of business burglaries last month.<\/p>\n
According to police, burglary detectives began noticing similarities among several business break-ins on Feb. 26. Investigators determined the burglaries involved similar methods of entry and were occurring within the same general area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Based on that information, detectives set up surveillance near Mollimar Drive and West 15th Street.<\/p>\n
Detectives saw an individual at about 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 behind a strip mall who matched the physical description of a suspect seen in previous surveillance footage. Police said the person appeared to be trying to remain out of sight and was believed to be preparing to break into a business.<\/p>\n
When an unrelated vehicle drove by, the individual reportedly became startled, placed an object on the ground, and walked away from the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Detectives quickly moved in and located the same individual nearby, police said. With assistance from patrol officers, the suspect was detained and interviewed.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, detectives determined the suspect was responsible for at least seven additional burglaries in the area. Officers recovered several items from the suspect, including gloves, a mask, shoes and clothing that matched those worn in previous offenses.<\/p>\n
