Texas A&M<\/a> will enter SEC play at 15-1 after run-ruling Stephen F. Austin 14-1<\/a> on Tuesday night, as the Aggie bats remained hot, registering 12 hits and 13 RBI, while redshirt junior Blake Binderup continued to look the part, hitting two home runs, combined with four Aggies recording at least two hits on the night.<\/p>\n Entering conference play with just one loss is quite impressive and provides some breathing room compared to last year’s early and late-season struggles. What’s even more telling is that the Aggies have been able to stay unscathed without star hitters Chris Hacopian<\/a> and Wesley Jordan in the lineup, as both offseason transfer additions continue to deal with minor injuries.<\/p>\n While Jordan’s issue is lesser known, Hacopian’s ongoing back issue re-emerged after returning against Virginia Tech. After his second at-bat, when he hit his first home run of the season, the Maryland transfer quickly reached for his lower back after taking a swing and has yet to return to the lineup.<\/p>\n While the Aggies’ only loss came at the hands of top-ranked UCLA, getting both players back for SEC play, especially Hacopian, is absolutely critical to staying on track. Before Tuesday’s game, Austin-American-Statesman beat writer Tony Catalina revealed a video of Hacopian warming up, performing various stretches in uniform, which looks like a good sign heading into their weekend road series vs. Oklahoma.<\/p>\n On the outside, second-year head coach Michael Earley is smartly being strategic with both players’ eventual return to the lineup, so heading into Friday, this remains a wait-and-see situation before the final lineup for Friday’s first game is released.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
