Now he\u2019s in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK<\/p>\n<p>The smoke has yet to rise from the new Kirbee\u2019s restaurant in Brooklyn, but <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/greenpointers.com\/2026\/03\/05\/kirbees-to-bring-award-winning-texan-bbq-to-greenpoint-this-summer\/\">excitement is building<\/a> for New York City\u2019s latest Texas craft barbecue sensation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo Texas Barbecue Megastars Are Opening an NYC Restaurant,\u201d the headline screamed on <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/news\/409571\/kirbees-nyc-barbecue-restaurant-barbs-b-q-goldees-texas-pitmasters-greenpoint-brooklyn\">Eater New York<\/a>, with a photo of nationally known Lockhart pitmaster <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/gardenandgun.com\/feature\/meet-the-young-texas-pitmaster-cooking-up-a-dynamic-future-for-barbecue\/\">Teresa \u201cChuck\u201d Charnichart<\/a>\u2019s ribs and brisket.<\/p>\n<p>Co-owner Jonny White of Arlington, a founder of contest-winning Goldee\u2019s BBQ, doesn\u2019t even have the keys yet to the former <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/peeps-kitchen-brooklyn\">fried chicken stand<\/a> that will become Kirbee\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>But he has a plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf i paint it red and the windows white, it\u2019ll look exactly like Goldee\u2019s,\u201d White said last week as cars passed the new restaurant, at 55 McGuinness Blvd. South in Brooklyn\u2019s Greenpoint neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it has the perfect barbecue vibe. All the other buildings here are squished in together, but this one\u2019s kind of cool. Seminary Drive.<\/p>\n<p>But he moved to New York about six months ago and started looking for somewhere to smoke craft barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>He grew up in Arlington and joined <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/tarrant-county\/childhood-friends-return-to-dfw-area-to-open-goldees-bbq\/287-aceedd67-a387-428d-ae05-115493428c8d\">former third-grade classmates Jalen Heard and Lane Milne<\/a> to open Goldee\u2019s in 2020 at 4645 Dick Price Road in rural Tarrant County south of Kennedale.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Goldee\u2019s was ranked No. 1 on <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.texasmonthly.com\/interactive\/top-50-bbq-2021\/?utm_source=Facebook&amp;utm_medium=Web+Social&amp;utm_campaign=Top50BBQList&amp;utm_content=\">Texas Monthly<\/a>\u2019s list of the state\u2019s \u201c50 best BBQ joints.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just always wanted to live here,\u201d he said \u2014 \u201cI\u2019ve spent my whole life in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As if you couldn\u2019t tell from the headline, Texas barbecue is hot.<\/p>\n<p>                                              <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG-4800.jpg\"   width=\"1140\" height=\"1140\" title=\"IMG-4800.jpg\" alt=\"Pitmaster Chuck Charnichart in her ays at Goldee\u2019s Barbecue.\"\/>                                                                                    Pitmaster Chuck Charnichart in her ays at Goldee\u2019s Barbecue.                                                                                                                                                                        facebook.com\/goldeesbbq                                                                                        <\/p>\n<p>The new Michelin Guide ratings for both Goldee\u2019s and Barbs, Charnichart\u2019s Lockhart restaurant, drew even more attention.<\/p>\n<p>Michelin named Charnichart, a former pit cook here at Goldee\u2019s and also at Zavala\u2019s, as Texas\u2019 <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.michelin.com\/us\/en\/article\/michelin-guide-ceremony\/chuck-charnichart-barbs-b-q-young-chef-award-winner-michelin-star-guide-ceremony-texas\">\u201cmost promising young chef.\u201d<\/a> The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/02\/24\/dining\/restaurant-review-barbs-b-q-texas.html\">New York Times<\/a> called Charnichart and Barbs the \u201cbest new reason\u201d to visit Lockhart.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bonappetit.com\/story\/barbs-b-q-chuck-charnichart\">Bon Appetit<\/a> said she is \u201creshaping Texas barbecue.\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/02\/24\/dining\/restaurant-review-barbs-b-q-texas.html\">Food &amp; Wine<\/a> listed White and the Goldee\u2019s team among the \u201cbest chefs in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>                                              <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_4813.jpg\"   width=\"1140\" height=\"848\" title=\"IMG_4813.jpg\" alt=\"A combo platter at Goldee\u2019s BBQ near Fort Worth.\"\/>                                                                                    A combo platter at Goldee\u2019s BBQ near Fort Worth.
