That location is officially closing its doors for good, and you’ve only got until March 23 to get one last plate of those Cheddar Bay Biscuits.<\/p>\n

Red Lobster confirmed the Cielo Vista location is closing because its lease is expiring. It’s not a sudden dramatic shutdown but more of a quiet goodbye that a lot of El Pasoans might not even know is coming. If you’ve been meaning to go back, the clock is officially ticking.<\/p>\n
Is Red Lobster Leaving El Paso Completely?<\/p>\n
Not quite. The Red Lobsters at 1860 Joe Battle Blvd. and 800 Sunland Park Drive will remain open, so you’re not completely out of options. But for East El Paso locals who’ve been rolling through the Cielo Vista spot for years, those locations are a whole different drive and for everyone who has ever lived next to their favorite restaurant, you know it just ain’t the same.<\/p>\n
The Bigger Picture Of A Lobster<\/p>\n
This closure is part of a much larger story happening across the country. Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Florida in 2024 and has been dropping dozens of lower-performing restaurants as part of a nationwide restructuring. The chain did emerge from bankruptcy in September 2024 with a restructuring plan and more than $60 million in new funding, so it’s not going away entirely. But the era of squeezing it into a trip to Cielo Vista for a quick lobster fix? That’s coming to an end.<\/p>\n

Look, Red Lobster is not a fancy restaurant. Nobody is pretending it is.
