The annual Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair is one of San Antonio\u2019s premiere free music events, and this year\u2019s lineup looks to be one of its hottest yet. But if that\u2019s not your jam, read on for something that is. <\/p>\n

Thursday, March 12-Sunday, March 15<\/p>\n

Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair<\/p>\n

This free festival offers an outdoor, family-friendly vibe and celebrates South Texas regional music, from conjunto and Tejano to cumbias and everything in between. More than 175 artists will perform over four days, including headliners Jay Perez, La Fiebre and Siggno, so check the lineup to find your favorites \u2014\u00a0or seek out some unknowns who could soon top your list. The gathering brings in tens of thousands of Tejano fans from across the country, so buckle up. Free, 4 p.m. Thursday and noon Friday-Sunday,\u00a0 Hemisfair, 630 E. Pretty Boy Floyd, Wolfpack, The Fixations, The Babylons<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a novel turn: Pretty Boy Floyd, one of the sleazier acts pop-metal acts swaggering along the Sunset Strip during the late 1980s, is pairing up with punk \u2014\u00a0or at least punk-adjacent \u2014\u00a0San Antonio acts known for a certain swagger of their own. Should be fun to see how the Doc Marten and Aquanet crowds come together. Badflower, Olive Vox, Point North, AnDy Darling<\/p>\n

Los Angeles hard rock outfit Badflower, the headliner of this four-band touring bill, made their 2019 major label debut with OK I\u2019m Sick, which hit big thanks to the song \u201cGhost.\u201d Last year, the group which specializes in post-grunge anthems built around dark lyrical themes, claimed the alt-rock charts with \u201cDetroit\u201d thanks to its catchy grooves. $48.00-$70.80, 7 p.m., Aztec Theatre, 104 N. Chuck Prophet & His Cumbia Shoes<\/p>\n

Chuck Prophet gained attention in the \u201980s as a key member of Paisley Underground act\u00a0Green on Red before releasing a stream of acclaimed solo albums that leaned into earnest country, blues and folk. Along the way, he\u2019s collaborated with the likes of Alejandro Escovedo, Kelly Willis and the late Warren Zevon. Prophet caught the cumbia bug on his latest album, Wake the Dead, which he recorded with \u00bfQiensave?, a Latin-infused outfit from Salinas, California. The release is fully of dance-floor ready grooves that incorporate cumbia\u2019s slinky and infectious rhythms with organ-driven garage rock \u2014\u00a0some sounding a lot like SA\u2019s own Sir Douglas Quintet. Those looking to raise a glass to the recently passed Augie Meyers could certainly find much to celebrate at Prophet\u2019s upcoming show. $38.17-$016.74, 8:30 p.m., Sam\u2019s Burger Joint, 330 W.
