{"id":201080,"date":"2026-03-12T07:24:18","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T07:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/201080\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T07:24:18","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T07:24:18","slug":"3-children-die-in-texas-apartment-fire-3-others-seriously-hurt-authorities-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/201080\/","title":{"rendered":"3 children die in Texas apartment fire, 3 others seriously hurt: authorities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/3-children-die-in-southeast-austin-apartment-fire-3-others-hospitalized\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/3-children-die-in-southeast-austin-apartment-fire-3-others-hospitalized\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Three children were killed and three other people were seriously hurt<\/a> in an apartment fire in Texas early Wednesday morning, according to authorities. <\/p>\n<p>The Austin Fire Department (AFD) said the call came in around 12:50 a.m. When crews arrived, fire was coming from multiple windows.<\/p>\n<p>Three other people &#8212; two adults and one child &#8212;  were taken to the hospital and are in critical condition, AFD said. The three who were hospitalized were outside and told firefighters there were still people inside the apartment. <\/p>\n<p>AFD said the victims were members of the same family. One firefighter suffered minor burns.<\/p>\n<p>One crew began extinguishing the fire, while a second crew searched the apartment, AFD said. The fire was quickly put out and did not spread beyond the unit where it started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFire was confined and contained to one apartment, the apartment of origin, the no other apartments were affected by fire or have fire damage,\u201d AFD Division Chief Wayne Parrish said.<\/p>\n<p>AFD said one building has been evacuated because gas and electricity have been cut. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
