Outspoken State Sen. Roland Gutierrez, D-San Antonio, took to social media platform X this week to deliver\u00a0one of the ultimate Spanish-language putdowns to President Trump over his war in Iran.<\/p>\n

\u201cOye, Trump,\u201d Gutierrez says in the 20-second clip he tweeted out Tuesday. \u201cDe parte de toda mi raza, chinga tu madre. Cabr\u00f3n!\u201d<\/p>\n

For those not familiar with the Spanish slang, Gutierrez, on behalf of the Hispanic community, told Trump to go fuck his own mother \u2014\u00a0well, more figuratively than literally \u2014\u00a0and used a versatile vulgarity that can mean \u201cbastard,\u201d \u201casshole,\u201d \u201cjerk-off\u201d or an assortment of other insults.<\/p>\n

Gutierrez\u2019s clip then shows images of elevated gas prices as \u201cLa Econom\u00eda\u201d by Mexican artist El Georgio, plays in the background.<\/p>\n

For some politicians, telling the President of the United States to go fuck their mom \u2014\u00a0who died 25 years ago, by the way \u2014 would be headline-grabbing news. <\/p>\n

However, not for the passionate and plainspoken Gutierrez, who just last week<\/a> called Attorney General Ken Paxton an \u201cevil son of a bitch\u201d during a rally in San Antonio. The senator also made headlines in 2023<\/a> when he said there\u2019s a \u201cspecial place in hell\u201d for GOP lawmakers who allow mass shootings to take place without enacting gun reforms. <\/p>\n

Pain at the pump <\/p>\n

Whatever one\u2019s take on Gutierrez\u2019s colorful language, he has a point about gas prices.<\/p>\n

As of press time, the average price at the pump in San Antonio was $3.18 for a gallon, or 17% higher than a month ago, according to AAA\u2019s online tracker<\/a>. And other places have it worse. The national average stands at $3.60 a gallon.<\/p>\n

Analysts have squarely blamed the rising prices on Trump\u2019s Middle East misadventure, which began last week and is either \u201cvery complete\u201d<\/a> or could go on for \u201cwhatever it takes.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

In response to devastating attacks by the U.S. and Israel, Iran has launched missile strikes on Saudi Arabian petroleum infrastructure and shut down the Strait of Hormuz \u2014\u00a0a small body of water through which 20% of the world\u2019s oil supply passes.<\/p>\n

The high oil and gas prices from the open-ended conflict could spell bad news for Republicans in some South Texas congressional races, Democratic strategist Bert Santiba\u00f1ez<\/a> told the Current.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s going to be such an economic burden for people that need to drive and work \u2026 especially people who work in agriculture [and in rural areas] that need to drive a lot,\u201d Santiba\u00f1ez said. \u201cIf people are upset and outraged when it comes to affordability, I think they\u2019ll make their voices heard at the ballot box.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words, if the cost of filling up keeps climbing, Gutierrez\u2019s profanity-laced video may end up being the politest thing voters have to say about the people running the country.<\/p>\n
