A former North Texas educator has been arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to an arrest warrant affidavit provided to WFAA.<\/p>\n
The document stated that Carrollton police arrested Miguel Caban-Mendez, a former English as a second language teacher at DeWitt Perry Middle School in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD.<\/p>\n
The affidavit stated that the victim, a student at DeWitt Perry, spoke out, saying that Caban-Mendez had inappropriately touched her. The affidavit stated that the victim said Caban-Mendez would call her out of class and have her come to his room during his off periods, sometimes twice a week.<\/p>\n
The victim told police that Caban-Mendez told her teacher he needed her for approximately 20 minutes, the affidavit said. The victim said that Caban-Mendez used lotion and began massaging her feet. Per the affidavit, Caban-Mendez escalated his actions. For the sake of transparency, WFAA will not provide further details of his actions given the nature of his crimes.<\/p>\n
The affidavit stated that three other girls were interviewed as well, and all outcried to at least foot massages from Caban-Mendez.<\/p>\n
The affidavit said that Caban-Mendez was placed on administrative leave by the district, but chose to resign instead.<\/p>\n
Carrollton police told WFAA they are investigating the matter and that, because it’s an active case, they do not have any additional information to provide.<\/p>\n
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD told WFAA in a statement the Carrollton Police Department is leading the investigation, and the district is fully cooperating with law enforcement.<\/p>\n
