{"id":20271,"date":"2025-10-25T03:33:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T03:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/20271\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T03:33:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T03:33:06","slug":"apd-looking-for-driver-who-struck-killed-man-on-scooter-in-downtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/20271\/","title":{"rendered":"APD looking for driver who struck, killed man on scooter in downtown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">AUSTIN, Texas &#8211; The Austin Police Department is looking to identify the driver of a truck that struck and killed a man on a scooter in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox7austin.com\/tag\/us\/tx\/travis-county\/austin\/downtown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">downtown Austin<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KTBC\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">On Oct. 18 just after 11:30 p.m., Austin police officers responded to a crash at E. 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard involving a truck and a man on a scooter.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The truck did not stay on scene.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The man on the scooter was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The man, identified as 33-year-old Khaled Saadeddine, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Oct. 19.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">APD has released photos of the suspect truck and is asking for the public&#8217;s help in identifying the driver.<\/p>\n<p>  (Austin Police Department)<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">This is being investigated as Austin&#8217;s 78th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 82 deaths.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">On Oct. 18, 2024, Austin saw 71 fatal crashes, resulting in 76 deaths.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KTBC\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">What you can do:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">Anyone with any information should contact APD&#8217;s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
