Gregory-Portland is 2-8 against Flour Bluff since March of 2021 but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Hornets at 12:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Flour Bluff will be up against a hot Gregory-Portland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats blew past Alice 23-2 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Emily LaFavers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter’s box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Gregory-Portland got a massive performance out of Emily Cameron, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five runs gave Cameron a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cadence Sandoval, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Gregory-Portland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Flour Bluff made easy work of Alice on Monday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Sidney Gerlach, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Kenzie O’Brien was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Flour Bluff’s victory bumped their record up to 15-7-1. As for Gregory-Portland, their win bumped their record up to 9-13-2.

Friday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Gregory-Portland hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it’s not like Flour Bluff struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Gregory-Portland couldn’t quite get it done against Flour Bluff in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.

Gregory-Portland is 2-8 against Flour Bluff since March of 2021 but they’ll have a chance to close the…

[14
155,157,156
post-202942","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-corpus-christi","tag-corpus-christi","tag-corpus-christi-headlines","tag-corpus-christi-news
["GET
