CANYON, Texas (KFDA<\/a>\/Gray) – A man in Texas is now recovering after his car rolled about 200 feet down a canyon.<\/p>\n

According to Texas State Park Police<\/a>, on March 9 at about 11:49 a.m., Palo Duro Canyon State Park staff were notified by a park visitor that there was a possibly injured man at the park\u2019s Mack Dick Pavilion.<\/p>\n

When park staff found the man, they noticed he was bleeding and had a black eye. He told them that he had a flat tire but his car wasn\u2019t nearby.<\/p>\n

Park staff said they discovered a car upside down below what staff referred to as the \u201cBig Hill,\u201d just past a park road.<\/p>\n

According to police, the man said that the car\u2019s tire blew out while he was driving in the park Sunday after dark. The car veered off the road and into the canyon, rolling about 200 feet before stopping.<\/p>\n

The man said he was able to walk away from the crash and made it to the pavilion where he was found the next morning.<\/p>\n

Officials believe he sustained a possible concussion and broken ribs. He was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n

Rescue personnel deployed a high-angle rope system to lower and attach a cable in order to retrieve the crashed car. The car was removed without any further incidents.<\/p>\n

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas State Park Police and the Texas Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n
