Texas A&M<\/a> (21-11) entered the SEC Tournament with little to gain or lose, knowing that back-to-back wins over Kentucky and LSU at the end of the regular season had all but solidified the Aggies’ standing as an NCAA Tournament team, which was predicted as a 9- or 10-seed before Thursday night’s game.<\/p>\n However, first-year head coach Bucky McMillan and his veteran team did not inspire confidence with their performance against a red-hot Oklahoma team, shooting a poor 38% from the field and 26% from beyond the arc, while senior forward Rashaun Agee<\/a> broke the program’s single-season double-double record after recording his 13th on the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.<\/p>\n Falling 83-63<\/a>, Aggie fans were not delighted to stay up late to watch a loss, but those of us who cover Texas A&M Athletics are to remind the fan base that this loss, on paper, at least, does not matter, and could be beneficial heading into Selection Sunday. On Friday, ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi<\/a> released his latest bracket update, dropping the Aggies to a 10-seed and predicting they would face 7-seed Miami.<\/p>\n This matchup prediction is not new, and after Texas A&M lost to eventual national runner-up Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff, I would not be shocked if this came to fruition on the hardwood. Either way, it’s actually a good thing if the Aggies earn a 10-seed, avoiding one of the four 1-seeds in the second round if they can get past their first-round opponent.<\/p>\n It’s also important to note that Texas A&M making the NCAA Tournament during McMillan’s first season is quite the achievement, given the preseason predictions surrounding the program, including being picked 13th in the conference.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
