{"id":205130,"date":"2026-03-15T00:13:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T00:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/205130\/"},"modified":"2026-03-15T00:13:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T00:13:16","slug":"kirkwood-tops-practice-2-for-the-java-house-gp-of-arlington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/205130\/","title":{"rendered":"Kirkwood tops Practice 2 for the Java House GP of Arlington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kyle Kirkwood, driver of the No. 27 JM Bullion\/Gold.com Andretti Global Honda, stormed to the top of the timesheets in Practice 2 for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES at the brand-new Java House Grand Prix of Arlington street circuit in Arlington, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The Andretti Global star posted the fastest lap of the session at 1:33.5008, edging out the field on the challenging 2.73-mile, 14-turn temporary street course making its INDYCAR debut this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Close behind was championship contender Alex Palou in the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, who clocked a strong 1:33.8085 to secure second place\u2014just 0.3077 seconds off Kirkwood\u2019s benchmark.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Armstrong continued his solid early-season form, placing third in the No. 66 Root Insurance Honda with a time of 1:33.9702.<\/p>\n<p>Andretti Global\u2019s Will Power rounded out the top four in the No. 26 TWG AI Honda (1:34.0226), showing the team\u2019s continued strength on street circuits.<\/p>\n<p>Power\u2019s teammate Marcus Ericsson completed the top five in the No. 28 InPwr Honda (1:34.0695).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-474477 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/scott-dixon-java-house-grand-prix-of-arlington-by_-james-black_ref-image-without-watermark_m148328.j.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\"\/>Scott Dixon Photo courtesy of Penske Entertainment\/James Black<\/p>\n<p>There were several red flags during the practice sessions.\u00a0 Just 10 minutes into the session for all cars, Scott Dixon spun at Turn 4 and stopped on track.\u00a0 Although he managed to not hit any walls, Will Power came out of the horseshoe and made contact with Dixon at the left rear.\u00a0 Both cars continued on their own back to pit lane.<\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of all cars session, Josef Newgarden, winner of last week\u2019s race in Phoenix, made contact with the barrier in Turn 2, which checkered the session.
