{"id":206310,"date":"2026-03-16T02:34:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T02:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/206310\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T02:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T02:34:12","slug":"socorro-isd-to-host-job-expo-for-students-to-explore-future-career-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/206310\/","title":{"rendered":"Socorro ISD to host job expo for students to explore future career options"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;KTSM&quot;}\" class=\"link \">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 Socorro Independent School District will host one of El Paso\u2019s biggest job expos as the district\u2019s students explore their future career options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Sixty-eight businesses and employers and 49 college and university programs will participate in the 2026 SISD College, Career and Job Expo from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23 at Montwood High, 12000 Montwood Dr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The event is designed for the district\u2019s sophomores, juniors and seniors to explore future career options, including summer employment, college programs and internship opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThrough this event, we connect the employers with our students, who are just beginning their working journey,\u201d said SISD Career and Technical Education Coordinator Brenda Gonzalez. \u201cWe introduce them to these companies and we are able to create staffing opportunities by bridging our CTE programs and students who have earned industry-recognized certifications with the needs of the employers in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Employers who will participate include El Paso Chihuahuas, City Water Parks, El Paso Live, Chick-fil-A and Charlie Clark Nissan El Paso, SISD said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Many of the staff within these companies were hired through Socorro ISD and continue with long-term jobs and careers with the same employers, Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Students will have the opportunity to speak with college, university, technical school and military representatives and meet with local business and industry partners to explore future career opportunities available to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Students can also interview with potential employers for summer jobs and internships. El Paso Workforce will be accepting applications for summer training and for job placement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Students should be ready to interview, bring resumes and dress professionally.
