{"id":207151,"date":"2026-03-16T18:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T18:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/207151\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T18:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T18:54:08","slug":"former-councilman-gary-boren-announces-bid-for-district-4-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/207151\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Councilman Gary Boren announces bid for District 4 seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Former City Councilman Gary Boren has announced his candidacy for the District 4 seat. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boren\u2019s bid comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/03\/11\/district-4-councilman-brayden-rose-announces-resignation\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/03\/11\/district-4-councilman-brayden-rose-announces-resignation\/\">Councilman Brayden Rose announced his resignation last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The special election will fill the seat recently vacated by Councilman Brayden Rose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boren has decades of leadership experience in business and public service. He previously served on the Lubbock City Council and as President of the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustee. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEvery decision I\u2019ve ever made in public service has been guided by one thing, Lubbock values,\u201d Boren said. \u201cI\u2019ve always stood with the taxpayers, families &amp; small businesses who built this community, and I always will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/story\/6268627\/city-settles-suit-councilman-boren-resigns\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/story\/6268627\/city-settles-suit-councilman-boren-resigns\/\">Boren resigned from his council seat in 2007<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Governor Greg Abbott recently appointed Boren to the Brazos River Authority Board because of his experience in water resources and long-term planning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boren says he looks forward to sharing more of his plans and vision for Lubbock. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rose will continue to represent the district until a successor is elected.
