MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas \u2013 A military veteran has been charged in a fatal shooting after two women were found dead inside a home in Montgomery County on Monday, according to law enforcement.<\/p>\n
Stanley Earl Hardin, 57, has been charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of his estranged wife, who was in her 50s, and her mother, who was in her 80s.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened in the 300 block of Shoreview Drive around 2 p.m., just east of Conroe.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office says the suspect rammed a vehicle into the home before shooting the two women inside.<\/p>\n
Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle says the wife called 911 just prior to the suspect ramming into the home and again before the suspect entered the home.<\/p>\n
Doolittle said he believes Hardin and the woman were still married, but that the wife had just moved out of their home within the last week and was staying with her mother at the home on Shoreview.<\/p>\n
The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, but deputies were able to locate him at his home in the 12000 block of Ivy Lane. Doolittle says Hardin surrendered to law enforcement at his home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had set up a perimeter anticipating that it might be worse than what they had believed because there was information that he would shoot it out with law enforcement, its my belief that he talked to a family member and that he surrendered to our deputies at that scene,\u201d Doolittle said.<\/p>\n
Doolittle said as far as they are aware, Hardin has no previous criminal history.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement continues to investigate and asks that the public avoid Shoreview Drive as they continue to be at the scene.<\/p>\n
