{"id":208529,"date":"2026-03-17T17:26:21","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T17:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/208529\/"},"modified":"2026-03-17T17:26:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T17:26:21","slug":"corpus-christis-tirz-plan-boosts-london-area-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/208529\/","title":{"rendered":"Corpus Christi\u2019s TIRZ plan boosts London area development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Councilman Gil Hernandez details a phased infrastructure and growth plan in the London area city limits.<\/p>\n<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 City Councilman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corpuschristitx.gov\/our-government\/mayor-and-council\/council-members\/district-5-gil-hernandez\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gil Hernandez\u00a0<\/a>detailed new plans Monday to boost development in the London area through a Tax-Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is designed to support infrastructure expansion and promote sustainable development in the London area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to manage growth responsibly, focusing on controlled, higher-density development rather than sprawling large tracts,\u201d Hernandez said. \u201cThis is a tool to help pay for streets, storm drains, and other infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At a meeting in the city\u2019s chambers, Hernandez and city officials presented a map highlighting specific zones in London targeted for development.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unlike previous TIRZ efforts, the plan for London will be implemented in phases to accommodate the area\u2019s smaller population and infrastructure needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we did today was develop the financing plan for this TIRZ,\u201d Hernandez explained. \u201cIt\u2019s different from past zones because it\u2019s outside the city limits and will be piecemealed.
