1.\u00a0Fort Worth ISD to be taken over by the state<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced on Thursday that the state will be taking over the Fort Worth Independent School District, appointing a new school board and conservator to run the district.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0CEO of Alamo Trust out after Lt. Gov. Patrick asked for her resignation<\/a><\/p>\n

On Friday, it was announced that the president of the Alamo Trust, which manages the historic site, was \u201cno longer\u201d at the organization, after Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on Thursday called for her resignation.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0District 18 special election features 16 candidates vying for a short term<\/a><\/p>\n

On Nov. 4, voters in Houston\u2019s District 18 will vote in a special election to fill the seat vacated by U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner, D-Houston, who died in office in March. Turner, the former mayor of Houston, had himself been elected to the position to replace U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, who died while running for the seat, which she had previously vacated to run for Houston mayor in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Texas secretary of state flags over 2,000 voters as noncitizens<\/a><\/p>\n

Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson said\u00a02,724 voters have been flagged as being undocumented\u00a0immigrants. Her office said last week that the voter files were provided to Texas counties, which will now conduct their own investigations into the eligibility of these voters. Once that process is complete, individuals who are deemed noncitizens who\u00a0voted in a Texas election will be referred to the Office of the Attorney General.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Musk’s rollercoaster year: From boycotts and plunging earnings to a potential trillion-dollar payday<\/a><\/p>\n

The world\u2019s richest man has only gotten richer this year and shareholders at Tesla, his electric car company, may make him wealthier yet by approving a trillion-dollar pay package in a bet he will succeed with new plans for a \u201crobot army\u201d and other technological breakthroughs even as some past promises remain unfulfilled.<\/p>\n
