\t\t\t\t\t\t\tManvel City Council<\/a> will apply for funding through the State Homeland Security Program\u2019s LETPA<\/a>, or Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Activities, which is designed to help cities respond to threats of terrorism and targeted violence<\/a>, following approval at its March 16 meeting.<\/p>\n

The grant supports the acquisition of specialized protective equipment, tactical response tools, communications upgrades and training for first responders, according to the Texas Governor\u2019s Public Safety Office grant website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Regional security assessments by the Houston Galveston Area Council identified ongoing capability gaps in first responder preparedness and response to complex coordinated attacks, according to city documents.<\/p>\n

The city will request between $250,000 and $350,000 to address the gaps, according to city documents.<\/a><\/p>\n

The effort is part of the Manvel Active Threat and First Responder Capability Enhancement Initiative, which is designed to strengthen the city\u2019s first responder capabilities and public safety, according to city documents.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next<\/p>\n

Following approval, the city<\/a> will submit both grant applications for fiscal year 2026-27.<\/p>\n
