Photo courtesy of Make-A-Wish North Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Oak Cliff neighbors Joan and Blake Holman recently made a $250,000 gift to Make-A-Wish North Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The gift will directly support the organization\u2019s effort to reduce the wait time for children who are hoping for their wish to be granted, further advancing the organization\u2019s mission to serve children with critical illnesses across the region, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, over 1,000 children in North Texas are waiting for their wishes to be fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis extraordinary gift from Joan and Blake reflects both their generosity and their deep commitment to the children and families we serve,\u201d CEO of Make-A-Wish North Texas Kim Elenez said in a press release. \u201cFor more than 20 years, they have championed our mission as donors, volunteers, and advocates. Their leadership and support will help us grant more wishes, but the demand continues to outpace our resources. We must accelerate our efforts and get every child\u2019s life-changing wish to them as quickly as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Holmans are active members of the North Texas philanthropic community, with Joan Holman currently serving as board chair for the organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that when you have been fortunate in life, you have a responsibility to help create hope and opportunity for others,\u201d Joan Holman said. \u201cThe work Make-A-Wish North Texas does for children and families facing serious illness is extraordinary. With so many children currently waiting for their wish, Blake and I felt compelled to support Make-A-Wish North Texas as they work to clear the pipeline and ensure every eligible child experiences the joy and encouragement a wish can bring.
