Missouri City firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and the train was evacuated. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement by Amtrak, the train was traveling from Los Angeles to New Orleans when it made contact with the 18-wheeler at approximately 11:10 a.m. <\/p>\n<p>Sign up for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/hellohouston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hello, Houston!<\/a> daily newsletter to get local reports like this delivered directly to your inbox.<\/p>\n<p>Amtrak said there were 93 passengers and 11 crew members on board the train at the time of the collision. There were no reports of serious injuries. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a precaution, customers were moved off of the train,&#8221; Amtrak said. &#8220;They will continue east aboard chartered buses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Missouri City said a Houston METRO bus was used to transport the train occupants. <\/p>\n<p>In a post on social media, Missouri City Fire and Rescue Services said two minor medical incidents were reported and the train did not derail. <\/p>\n<p>At approximately 4:30 p.m., Missouri City said that traffic delays and road closures are expected to continue and CenterPoint crews were on site to conduct repairs to damaged utility poles and lines. <\/p>\n<p>A hazardous materials team was dispatched to the area due to a fuel spill.
