{"id":210024,"date":"2026-03-18T16:43:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/210024\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T16:43:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T16:43:08","slug":"former-houston-county-jailer-accused-of-sexual-misconduct-with-an-inmate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/210024\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Houston County jailer accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">CROCKETT, Texas (KTRE) &#8211; A Houston County jailer has been arrested after he was accused of behaving in an inappropriate sexual manner with an inmate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Cameron Lee Burch, 20, of Nacogdoches, was held Wednesday at the Houston County Jail on charges of official oppression and violation of civil rights of a person in custody. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The investigation began on Jan. 17 after an inmate reported the incident to a jail sergeant, according to a Houston County Sheriff\u2019s Office release. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThrough the investigation it was determined that the jailer did indeed engage in inappropriate behavior,\u201d the release states. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The jailer was fired when he returned to work on Jan. 19. and the Texas Rangers took over the investigation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A grand jury later found enough evidence to pursue the case and a warrant was obtained. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The jailer then turned himself in to the Houston County Jail just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, the release states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KLTV.
