A 60-year-old man is accused of impersonating a lawyer, reaching out to people in the Tarrant County Jail, and stealing $3,000 from their family members.<\/p>\n
FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of impersonating a lawyer to steal thousands of dollars from the families of people incarcerated in the Tarrant County Jail, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Deputies launched an investigation into 60-year-old Ramond Davis Jr, who is accused of fraudulently representing himself as a licensed attorney to steal from people in jail, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Davis is accused of contacting people in the Tarrant County Jail to offer legal services before meeting with the jailed person’s family and collecting $3,000 in exchange for supposed legal representation, the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Investigators found, however, that Davis is not a liscensed attorney, officials said. He was arrested and multiple chages are pending against him, the release states.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The department did not say how much money Davis may have stolen from people in the jail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials believe that there may be other victims, according to the release.
