{"id":212300,"date":"2026-03-20T01:47:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T01:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/212300\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T01:47:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T01:47:09","slug":"lakeway-to-provide-dispatch-services-for-leander-isd-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/212300\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakeway to provide dispatch services for Leander ISD police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Lakeway Police Department will provide dispatch services to the Leander ISD Police Department starting in fiscal year 2026-27, following unanimous approval of an interlocal agreement by Lakeway City Council on <a href=\"https:\/\/lakeway-tx.civicweb.net\/Portal\/MeetingInformation.aspx?Org=Cal&amp;Id=2296\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 16<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The details <\/p>\n<p>The maximum estimated cost for LISD is $50,838, based on how much officials estimate LISD will impact the Lakeway Police Department dispatch workload.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement states that the total workload from LISD PD cannot exceed more than 4% of the Lakeway Police Department\u2019s existing workload.<\/p>\n<p>Data from last year estimates LISD would have accounted for 2.7% of LPD\u2019s workload if it had been part of the city\u2019s dispatch system at that time, costing $32,682.<\/p>\n<p>Under the <a href=\"https:\/\/lakeway-tx.civicweb.net\/document\/101848\/LISD-Lakeway%20MOU%20-%202026.pdf?handle=A263EC4F4A354CEAB92C54676C54EF8F\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">agreement<\/a>, LPD will also share Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System services with LISD PD through its Athena software.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my belief that this relationship will benefit both parties,\u201d said Glen Koen, report author and Lakeway chief of police, in a City Council <a href=\"https:\/\/lakeway-tx.civicweb.net\/document\/101847\/Staff%20Report%20-%20Dispatch%20Services%20MOU%20Leander%20ISD.pdf?handle=B4D7E42BDD1C4574AF410460B0466812\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward <\/p>\n<p>The interlocal agreement is only for the 2026-27 school year.
