Will Texas A&M secure a series win? Here are three key things to know about the Bulldogs, along with a prediction for Texas A&M vs. Georgia:

Article continues below this ad

Georgia baseball atop SEC offensively

The Bulldogs’ offensive start to the season has been impressive. Georgia leads the SEC in batting average (.343), home runs (69), hits (244), RBIs (222), slugging percentage (.691) and on-base percentage (.473). It features a lineup with 12 players hitting .300 or higher, and three batters who have already eclipsed 10 home runs.

The potent Georgia lineup is led by junior outfielder Daniel Jackson, who has started all 22 games, slashing .429/.515/.988. The right-handed power bat leads the team with 14 home runs and 37 RBIs, while tallying 36 hits and 12 walks on 84 at-bats.

Article continues below this ad

Bulldogs middle of pack on the mound

Georgia has been vulnerable on the mound. The Bulldogs enter the second weekend of conference play ninth in the SEC in pitching, with a 3.69 ERA. It’s top five in allowed runs (75), but is 11th in opponent batting average (.221) and is ninth in home runs allowed (16).

The Bulldogs’ Friday starter, Joey Volchko, has been touched up a bit in his five starts. While the right-hander is 4-0, he’s posted a 3.81 ERA, the highest among the weekend starters. He’s allowed 11 runs on 23 hits over 26 innings. Volchko has struck out 32 batters and walked 10.

Bulldogs expected to be strong

After finishing 19th in 2025 by D1Baseball, Georgia entered the season ranked 15th in the preseason rankings. Since then the Bulldogs have continued to rise, sitting at No. 7, up one spot from last week. They’ve been able to do so despite not placing a single player on a preseason All-SEC team.

Article continues below this ad

Since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012, the two programs have played 26 times, with A&M holding a 16-10 record. However, the home and away records vary significantly: the Aggies perform strongly at Blue Bell Park (10-2) and struggle in Athens, Ga. (5-7).

The last time either team won a series on the road was in 2022, when the Aggies took two of three from the Bulldogs.

Texas A&M baseball vs Georgia series prediction

Texas A&M 2-1. If last weekend in Norman, Okla., proved anything, it is that when A&M has its full lineup, it can swing with anyone. What was surprising was that the pitching didn’t look like it did earlier in the season. A staff that went 47⅓ innings without walking a batter earlier in the year allowed 17 walks to the Sooners. The Aggies have to cut down the free passes against a dangerous lineup to leave Blue Bell this weekend with their first SEC series win.

Article continues below this ad

Reach Texas A&M beat reporter Tony Catalina via email at Anthony.Catalina@statesman.com.

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M baseball aims to secure its first conference series victory after scoring 27 runs last week…

[6
2845,83316,2846,27,52717,29,28
post-212905","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-texas","tag-college-baseball","tag-georgia-baseball","tag-sec-baseball","tag-texas","tag-texas-am-baseball","tag-texas-headlines","tag-texas-news
["GET
