[email\u00a0protected]<\/a><\/p>\nOne year after making the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, the Plano East girls soccer team showed during Friday\u2019s 1-0 victory over Hebron in a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff game that it wasn\u2019t satisfied with making the first round. They didn\u2019t want to be one-and-done in the playoffs for the second consecutive season with the goal of making a long postseason run. <\/p>\n
The Lady Panthers backed it up, and now they are onto the area round for the first time since 2009. And they will get to host a home game with Arlington Martin set to visit Tom Kimbrough Stadium on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Led by a stout defense, Plano East kept Hebron\u2019s offense in check during a game that was played at The Colony\u2019s Tommy Briggs Cougar Stadium.<\/p>\n
Alexa Perreira scored midway through first half, and it was a lead that the Lady Panthers never relinquished. <\/p>\n
Plano East held possession for 65 percent of the match.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Plano East boys, making its first postseason appearance since 2018, was unable to break through on offense in a season-ending 2-0 loss to Coppell at Buddy Echols Friday, also on Friday.<\/p>\n
Coppell held Plano East to five shots on goal while taking advantage of limited chances. The Cowboys took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ian Wanemba in the 23rd minute for the lone score of the first half. Sebastian Duran gave Coppell a 2-0 lead with 7:01 remaining on a five-yard goal in traffic. <\/p>\n
