SHERMAN, Texas – The Concordia Texas baseball team earned a series win with a doubleheader split, claiming the series finale against Austin College. Kalen Clark<\/a>, Landon Hyle<\/a>, and Jake Townsend<\/a> all homered twice at Baker Field on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Game 1: L, 15-10

\nThe Tornados jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t overcome a big second inning from Austin College, falling 15-10 in the opener.<\/p>\n

Concordia struck first in the top of the first, as Clark\u00a0launched a two-run home run to give CTX a 2-0 lead. After Austin responded with a seven-run second inning and added four more in the third, the Tornados found themselves in an early deficit they couldn’t fully recover from.<\/p>\n

Despite trailing, Concordia’s offense continued to battle throughout the game. Hyle\u00a0led the charge with a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, and three RBIs.<\/p>\n

Townsend added three hits, including a home run, and drove in three, while Samuel Ortiz<\/a> recorded three hits and scored twice.<\/p>\n

The Tornados chipped away at the deficit with runs in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings, including a late push highlighted by a two-run homer from Townsend in the final frame. However, Austin’s early offensive surge proved to be the difference.<\/p>\n

Game 2: W, 16-4

\nConcordia responded in a big way in game two, exploding offensively to secure a 16-4 victory and earn the split.<\/p>\n

The Tornados wasted no time getting on the board, as Clark\u00a0opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning. Moments later, Townsend\u00a0delivered a three-run blast to cap a four-run frame and give CTX early momentum.<\/p>\n

After adding two more runs in the second, Concordia broke the game open in the fourth inning. A series of timely hits, including a three-run home run from Hyle , highlighted a six-run outburst that extended the lead to 12-2.<\/p>\n

Offensively, the Tornados piled up 20 hits in the contest, with multiple players turning in big performances. Clark\u00a0led the way with three hits, including a home run, while Ortiz\u00a0and Townsend each drove in three runs. Hyle added another strong showing with a home run and three RBIs.<\/p>\n

On the mound, Gavin Voth<\/a> earned the win in relief, tossing four solid innings and allowing just one run while striking out six to stabilize the game after the early innings.<\/p>\n

The Tornados added insurance in the ninth inning, plating three more runs to put the game out of reach and secure the bounce-back win.<\/p>\n

Concordia Texas will next travel to Conway, Arkansas for a series with Hendrix College starting this Friday, March 27th. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm.<\/p>\n
