A Houston-area man once considered a top suspect in the still-unsolved murders of four women back in the 1980s and ’90s has died. <\/p>\n
Clyde Edwin Hedrick, 72, was taken to a hospital last week with an undisclosed illness and died on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He was convicted in the murder of a woman in 1984 and was sent to prison for 20 years, but has most recently been in a Southwest Houston halfway house.<\/p>\n
Investigators in the 1990s said they had evidence that the alibis Hedrick told them were contradicted by eyewitness testimony and police from several agencies have tried to find that one bit of incontrovertible evidence that would tie him to at least one of the murders, but such evidence was never found.<\/p>\n
One of the women killed among the four victims was the daughter of a man so frustrated with the lack of investigation resources in missing persons cases that he formed the Texas Equusearch Search and Recovery nonprofit group that assists in trying to find people who are missing and were possibly kidnapped. <\/p>\n
That man, Tim Miller, said he still hasn’t given up on finding evidence in the killing of his daughter. <\/p>\n
