It’s a passion of mine just because I’ve watched it my entire life. Being a runner, it’s always been a challenge to run over it and back. Watching it come down before my eyes is quite amazing.”

Perez hopes the area below won’t sit vacant now that the bridge is gone.

“I’m really hoping for a lot more development. There’s a lot of potential down here in Corpus. We’ve been talking about this for decades, so hopefully when this comes down we’ll get some new development in our area,” he said.

When asked about his next project, Perez said, “People in the community keep asking for a book or some videos, and I will do that. I will get together either a book or some videos, collaborating the whole thing together.”

As the removal of the old bridge continues, Perez will be there to record it all.

“It’s a passion.
