Calallen waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins… but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Robstown Cottonpickers as they made off with a 20-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Calallen got a great performance from Collier Carroll as he didn’t allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Carroll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Quinn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Rusher, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Calallen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robstown only posted a batting average of .118.

Calallen’s record is now 18-2. As for Robstown, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost seven of their last eight games. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Calallen wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Eagle Pass on the 21st. As for Robstown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuloso-Midway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors & Cherokees’ pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Cottonpickers’ hitters will have their work cut out for them.
