AUSTIN, Texas\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The No. 3 Texas Women’s Basketball team cruised past Oregon with a 100-58 win on Sunday at Moody Center. Madison Booker<\/a> set a new single-game NCAA Tournament record for the Texas Longhorns with 40, surpassing the 32-point performances by Heather Schreiber (vs LSU in 2003) and Clarissa Davis (vs. Western Kentucky in 1986).<\/p>\n

In her last home game, Rori Harmon<\/a> put up nine points, five steals, and six rebounds. Jordan Lee<\/a> added 17 points with Teya Sidberry’s<\/a> 11-point effort. Texas held 28-14 advantage in bench points and a 22-8 advantage in assists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Longhorns started the game with a mid-range jump shot by Booker, who ended the quarter scoring 14 points while shooting 6-for-8. Rori Harmon<\/a> tallied four steals while the Texas defense forced six turnovers on the Ducks.<\/p>\n

To begin the second quarter, Texas went on a 6-0 run while holding Oregon to no field goals (0-for-7) for 3:27 minutes. Sophomore guard Aaliyah Crump<\/a> sunk a three-pointer to extend the lead to 15;\u00a0to\u00a0help the Longhorns end the first half with a total of 45 points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas concluded the first half with 10 steals and shot 67 percent from the 3-point line and scored 15 points off turnovers. Booker ended the half with 19 points while Harmon dished out nine assists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Longhorns defense stayed strong throughout the third quarter, holding the Ducks to a scoring drought for 2:18 minutes, only allowing two free-throws for the first 4:30 minutes of the half. Texas went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead, only giving up eight points this quarter. The Longhorns outscored the Ducks 28-8 in the third quarter, with Booker contributing 13 points (5-for-7).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas went on a 7-0 run to open the fourth quarter. Lee and Booker were the leading scorers of the quarter, adding eight points each. Sarah Graves<\/a> put up four points towards the end of the fourth as the Longhorns sealed the win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Up next, the Longhorns will face the winner between No. 5 seed Kentucky and No. 4 seed West Virginia in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 28. Tip-off time is to be determined.\u00a0<\/p>\n
