<\/p>\nSAN ANTONIO – TxDOT has announced a series of road closures between March 23 and March 27 as part of the ongoing expansion of I-35. <\/p>\n
Drivers on parts of Interstate 35 on San Antonio\u2019s Northeast Side should plan for overnight detours the week of March 23-27, 2026, as crews close several ramps and frontage road connections for bridge work as part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program.<\/p>\n
The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday. Transportation officials say impacted lanes are expected to remain closed for the full duration of each scheduled closure window.<\/p>\n
Southbound I-35 to southbound I-410 South closures<\/p>\n
The southbound I-35 connector ramp to southbound I-410 South and the southbound I-35 frontage road entrance ramp to southbound I-410 South will be closed overnight for bridge work.<\/p>\n
Detour: Drivers on southbound I-35 at the I-410 South interchange who want to connect to southbound I-410 South, and those entering southbound I-410 South from the southbound I-35 frontage road, will follow detour signs to the southbound I-35 frontage road and continue to George Beach Avenue. <\/p>\n
Drivers will use the signalized turnaround at George Beach Avenue to enter the northbound I-35 frontage road, then connect to the southbound I-410 South frontage road and use the entrance ramp south of Winnco Drive to enter the southbound I-410 South mainlanes.<\/p>\n

Walzem Road area closures<\/p>\n
The southbound I-35 frontage road at Walzem Road and the northbound-to-southbound U-turn at Walzem Road will also be closed overnight for bridge work.<\/p>\n
Detour: Drivers on the southbound I-35 frontage road will follow detour signs to enter the southbound I-35 mainlanes north of Walzem Road and use the Eisenhauer Road exit ramp to return to the frontage road.<\/p>\n
Drivers on Walzem Road looking to access southbound I-35 and drivers on northbound I-35 looking to U-turn at Walzem Road will be directed to one of two detour options:<\/p>\n
Detour option 1: Follow detour signs to the northbound I-35 frontage road, continue to Northeast I-410 Loop and keep left to turn around to the southbound I-35 frontage road. Drivers will enter the southbound I-35 mainlanes north of Walzem Road and then access the southbound I-35 frontage road from the Eisenhauer Road exit.<\/p>\n
Detour option 2: Follow detour signs on Walzem Road, turn north onto Interchange Parkway and continue to Fratt Road, then turn right. Drivers will then turn right to enter the southbound I-35 frontage road and enter the southbound I-35 mainlanes north of Walzem Road. Those looking to access the southbound I-35 frontage road will use the Eisenhauer Road exit.<\/p>\n

The northbound I-35 frontage road connector to Rittiman Road will be closed overnight for bridge work.<\/p>\n
Detour: Drivers on the northbound I-35 frontage road at the I-410 South interchange who want to connect to the northbound I-410 South frontage road to Rittiman Road will follow detour signs to Binz Engleman Road. Drivers will use the signalized turnaround at Binz Engleman Road to enter the northbound I-410 South frontage road to Rittiman Road.<\/p>\n
