In observance of National Kidney Month, the Dallas County Health & Human Services department is hosting a free community health event on March 26.<\/p>\n
According to a Monday press release, the event takes place at the DCHHS building at 2377 N. Stemmons Fwy, Ste. 627-A from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. <\/p>\n
Residents can get free kidney screenings and other health services to help keep them on a healthy path. No insurance is required. All residents need to bring is themselves and a friend if they’d like.<\/p>\n
This event is part of the county’s Chronic Disease Prevention Division<\/a>, which is tasked with promoting and supporting the overall mission of optimizing and protecting the health of the citizens of Dallas County.<\/p>\n Events like this help prevent chronic diseases and reduce health inequities by addressing environments, systems, and behaviors that are associated with chronic diseases and precursors.<\/p>\n According to this post<\/a> from the National Kidney Association of Greater New York, National Kidney Month raises awareness about kidney heath and individuals living with chronic kidney disease.<\/p>\n “Kidney disease often develops silently, with many people unaware they have it until it reaches advanced stages,” the post reads. “That’s why education, early detection, and access to care are so important.”<\/p>\n The post continues, “Throughout the month, the National Kidney Foundation is encouraging everyone to learn more about their kidney health, understand their risk factors, and take steps toward prevention.”<\/p>\n Those steps include learning the warning signs of kidney disease and exploring treatment and support resources in the case of diagnosis.
