SAN ANTONIO – An all-new cultural experience is coming to the Alamo City, complete with international cuisine, artisan vendors, and cultural performances!<\/p>\n
The Silk Road District Festival, hosted by the City of San Antonio Economic Development Department, the Office of Historic Preservation, and Culturingua, will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Silk Road Cultural Heritage District near I-10 and Wurzbach Road. <\/p>\n
Organizers say the free, family-friendly festival is designed to celebrate one of San Antonio\u2019s newest cultural heritage districts by bringing together residents, artists, entrepreneurs, and community organizations for an afternoon focused on global culture, local entrepreneurship, and community connection.<\/p>\n
Inspired by the historic Silk Road, the event will feature international food vendors, an artisan bazaar with handmade crafts, textiles, jewelry, and cultural goods, live music and cultural dance performances, community cultural booths, and youth activities exploring Silk Road traditions and storytelling.<\/p>\n
The festival also aims to spotlight the Silk Road Cultural Heritage District as a growing destination for cultural tourism, entrepreneurship, and small-business growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cSan Antonio\u2019s cultural heritage districts are powerful drivers of economic opportunity and neighborhood vitality,\u201d said Brenda Hicks-Sorensen, director of the City of San Antonio Economic Development Department. \u201cThe Silk Road District Festival brings visibility to the small businesses and entrepreneurs that make this corridor unique while celebrating the global traditions that enrich our city.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Silk Road Cultural Heritage District was designated by the city in 2024 to recognize communities whose heritage connects regions across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean, reflecting San Antonio\u2019s long history as a crossroads of cultures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Silk Road Cultural Heritage District represents the global stories that shape San Antonio\u2019s identity,\u201d said Cory Edwards, interim director of the City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation. \u201cEvents like this help residents and visitors experience the cultural traditions, creativity, and entrepreneurship that make these heritage districts vibrant places to live, work, and explore.\u201d<\/p>\n
Culturingua is organizing the festival as part of its work to strengthen cultural heritage and economic opportunity within the district.<\/p>\n
