Charges have been filed against an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 76-year-old man in northwest Houston over the weekend.<\/p>\n

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:55 p.m. Sunday in the 9900 block of North Houston Rosslyn Road.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the victim, Rafael Navarro Jaurequi, 76, was attempting to cross the roadway from west to east when he was struck by a white Toyota Camry traveling northbound.<\/p>\n

HPD investigators reported that the driver fled the scene after the crash. The Houston Fire Department responded and pronounced Jaurequi dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Eli Anthony Lobo Doblado, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid.<\/p>\n

Police said Lobo Doblado later returned to the scene, where he was taken into custody by deputies with the Harris County Constable Precinct 1.<\/p>\n

Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney\u2019s Office, charges were filed, and the suspect was booked into the Harris County Jail.<\/p>\n
