\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAn indoor children\u2019s playground is on track to open in the Lockwood Neighborhood after Richardson City Council unanimously approved a special permit on March 23<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kid-N-Play would be the only indoor play area in Richardson, owner Tiffany Long said.<\/p>\n

The details<\/p>\n

Kid-N-Play plans to open in a multi-tenant building at 506 Lockwood Drive, between Lockwood Distilling Company<\/a> and Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe<\/a>. The indoor playground is designed for children aged 0-5, and will also provide comfortable spaces for parents and caregivers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission is to create a safe, clean and engaging environment where young children can build confidence through play, while parents have a comfortable place to connect, relax or send a few emails for work,\u201d Long said.<\/p>\n

According to city documents, the indoor playground will include climbing equipment, stairs, slides, a children\u2019s climbing wall and a play area for toddlers. Kid-N-Play will also have a small party room and a mother\u2019s nursing room.<\/p>\n

Long said she wants Kid N Play to also serve as a gathering place for local organizations like parent-teacher associations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not just opening a play space,\u201d Long said. \u201cWe\u2019re creating a community hub for families right here in Richardson.\u201d<\/p>\n

The City Plan Commission unanimously recommended<\/a> approval for the special permit on March 3.<\/p>\n

What they\u2019re saying<\/p>\n

Several council members brought up security and safety concerns at the location, and Long said that there will be a barrier between the front check-in desk and the play area, with the play area only accessible for families with a ticket.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Lockwood] is a very neighborhood [and] family-oriented district in our city, so I think this is a really smart thing to put there,\u201d council member Jennifer Justice said.<\/p>\n
