Beren Mediterranean will now be Beren Mezza and Grill House<\/a> in the Near Southside.<\/p>\n

The Turkish restaurant has moved locations from the Funky Town Food Hall at 1229 8th Ave. to a new spot in the modern looking PS1200 apartment complex at 1200 6th Ave. The new space was previously Maiden<\/a>, a fine-dining vegan restaurant, that closed in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n

A handful of Mediterranean restaurants have been opening lately.<\/p>\n

Tim Love\u2019s Meraki<\/a> just opened in the old Courtside Kitchen off University. Chadra Mezza and Grill<\/a> reopened at their fifth location in south Fort Worth along Interstate 35W. Terra Mediterranean<\/a> opened in the West 7th Entertainment District at the end of 2024. Beren has only been open since February 2025.<\/p>\n

Beren has been recommended<\/a> by Star-Telegram readers for their fresh ingredients and baklava.<\/p>\n

Beren serves<\/a> all the mezza favorites like hummus, babaghanoush, feta and pink sultan (a red beet dip).<\/p>\n

Some modern takes on Mediterranean classics include a feta watermelon balsamic salad and Turkish bread panzanella salad. The menu also features lots of salmon.<\/p>\n

And then of course kebabs, gyros and falafel.<\/p>\n

Kebabs come in lamb, chicken, beef, shrimp, salmon but there are also the kofta skewers that are flatbread wrapped skewered ground meat.<\/p>\n

Their baklava is flaky filo pastry dough layered with either chocolate, the traditional pistachio or walnuts.<\/p>\n

Mezza starters and salads are $8 to $10. All the entrees are about $20, except for lamb chops, which are $28. Baklava is $11.50.<\/p>\n

When will the new Beren Mezza and Grill House open?<\/p>\n

The last day for Beren Mediterranean at Funky Town Food Hall off Magnolia Avenue was on March 22.<\/p>\n

The new Beren Mezza and Grill House will open in early April at 1200 6th Ave., just down the street from their old spot.<\/p>\n

For now, the restaurant is hiring<\/a> for all kitchen positions, full and part-time. To apply to be a server, bartender, busser or food runner, call or text 817-793-6563.<\/p>\n
