For two Fort Worth groups, it\u2019s through the power of music and artistic expression.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fort Works Art and the Cliburn are participating in separate celebrations that commemorate the colonies\u2019 official separation from Great Britain to form the United States of America on July 4, 1776.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Cliburn is highlighting independence through its 2026 music festival \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2026\/02\/05\/themes-and-artists-announced-for-2026-cliburn-festival\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">America 250<\/a>\u201d from March 26-29 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The four-day event brings together three of the organization\u2019s resident pianists \u2014 Peter Dugan, Avery Gagliano and Jonathan Mamora \u2014 to present music written in, inspired by and reflective of the U.S.&#8217; history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pianists will present a mix of chamber and vocal performances with an ensemble of string musicians across five thematic concerts: American Roots, American Jazz, American Mosaic, American Romantics, and American Classics.<\/p>\n<p>Cliburn president Jacques Marquis said the festival spotlights the country\u2019s ingenuity and brings a moment of connection for its audiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach concert is loosely themed and encompasses an eclectic range from early American music \u2014 influenced by folk songs, spirituals and hymns \u2014 to jazz and all its offshoots, to Broadway and film hits, to modern works,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cWe hope to leave audiences with a sense of pride, curiosity and, most importantly, joy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you go<\/p>\n<p>What: 2026 Cliburn Festival: America 250<\/p>\n<p>When: 7:30 p.m. March 26, 27; 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m. March 28; 2 p.m. March 29<\/p>\n<p>Where: Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Admission: <a href=\"https:\/\/cliburn.org\/concerts\/cliburn-festival?utm_source=wordfly&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=2026CliburnFestivalPressRelease&amp;utm_content=version_A\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$22-$57<\/a> for single tickets<\/p>\n<p>Find the complete festival schedule <a href=\"https:\/\/cliburn.org\/concerts\/cliburn-festival?utm_source=wordfly&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=2026CliburnFestivalPressRelease&amp;utm_content=version_A\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby, Fort Works Art\u2019s nonprofit arm Gallery of Dreams is partnering with Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker\u2019s office to participate in the national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmayors.org\/programs\/america-250-city-art-poster-project\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">America 250 City Art Poster Project<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The gallery invites local artists of all ages and experiences to submit a design that reflects the city\u2019s \u201cvibrant creative movement\u201d and local history. Parker will select the top Fort Worth design.<\/p>\n<p>The winning poster will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmayors.org\/programs\/america-250-city-art-poster-project\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">displayed with those from other cities<\/a> during the United States Conference of Mayors\u2019 94th annual meeting in Long Beach, California, June 4-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fort Worth and other cities with populations over 30,000 were invited to participate in the national initiative supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the mayors\u2019 conference.
