We are happy to have Chick-fil-A come to Lubbock,” Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer said.

John Osborne, president of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, said the investment is a step in showing what Lubbock has to offer.

“It shows that this is a very viable place to distribute from, and needs to be considered, and so that really elevates and enables us to have a better chance at landing each and every deal,” Osborne said.

What the facility will do

Chick-fil-A says the facility will help store and distribute food and other products to its network of restaurants.

McBrayer believes Lubbock was chosen due to its strategic location and hard-working residents.

“We have a great workforce here, we have Texas Tech here, we have good access, we have great values, a low cost of living for the employees they bring here,” McBrayer said. “So, I think Lubbock is becoming a much more – a place many people are going to look at very closely, not just for things like Leprino and Chick-fil-A, but we’ve got a lot of other people looking at us at the moment.”

Economic impact

Osborne said the investment brings long-term benefits, boosting the local economy and providing more room for the city to grow.

“But even if you are not necessarily looking for that particular job, just the fact that we have more economic activity in our community, enables us to have more restaurants and more retail and more entertainment things, and fun things to do not only for yourself, but for you and your family,” Osborne said. “So as a result of all of this economic activity, it’s only going to be positive for Lubbock going forward.”

Construction is set to begin in May 2026.
